The Challenge

We were called to large scale film studio; who were filming a Hollywood blockbuster. Film and television production can be hot work; the lighting alone produces a lot of heat… and that’s where we came in; keeping the A list cast and crew cool.

The Solution

Working on a film set can be a busy place – with actors, hustle and bustle of film crews and keeping disruption to a minimum. And this site was no different;

“Our install couldn’t hinder filming which meant stopping and starting in between takes, one bell meant stop and remain silent, two bells meant get off set…. QUICKLY!! Pipework/ducting under and over the set with ducting entering the set at the tops of false stairways, under the furniture and even in through the kitchen cabinets.” – Sean Johnson

We provided recirculated cooling in and around the set using:

2 x 125KW Chillers
8 x 50KW AHUs
120m Ducting
250m Pipework

The Result

Celsius Hire provided a quick turn around cooling solution for a film studio – keeping the production cool. Using our rental chillers paired with air handling units to provide comfort cooling. Installation of the units between takes was a hurdle easily overcome by our team of engineers; keeping disruption to a minimum.

Keeping TV and Film Cool

We support TV and film hire with our excellent range of units. Providing both cooling hire and heating rental projects across the UK.

In the summer, lighting, equipment and people create heat that can make conditions unbearable. As these spaces are large studios rented by the production companies, hire lends itself as the obvious solution for keeping the space cool. Celsius Hire’s large range of Air Handling Units, able to be coupled with chillers, provide cool air to areas of any size.

TV and film hire often is required in the winter, poorly insulated studios can become extremely cold, making it difficult to film and operate. Celsius Hire’s temporary boilers can be connected to our air handling units to provide warm air. Alternatively, in some applications, our indirect fired oil heaters can be positioned outside, supplying clean, dry air.

Our flexible ducting range is designed for this industry, ensuring the temperature controlled air is correctly distributed, keeping all comfortable.
