Let’s Meet Marcus!
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and your role at Celsius Hire.
Marcus: “My job as a Test & Repair Engineer features a wide range of tasks. I’ve learnt everything I know so far from my year here at Celsius. This job has really opened my eyes to the industry and has massively expanded my understanding—from something as small as a fuse to a full-blown chiller system.
Day-to-day, my tasks vary a lot! One day, I might be testing a chiller, ensuring it’s in perfect working order, and the next, I could be repairing a unit, handling loads of electrical parts, or even just giving it a fresh lick of paint so that it’s in top condition for our customers. No two days are the same, and that’s what keeps it exciting!”
Q: What was the highlight of the winter season for you?
Marcus: “The highlight of the winter season was most definitely the ice rink season. Keeping on top of all the kit and items that went out on those jobs was a big responsibility, but at the same time, it was so satisfying to be a part of. It was an amazing experience, seeing everything come together and knowing that our work played a key role in creating some of the UK’s largest ice rinks. The organisation and logistics behind it were huge, but when everything was running smoothly, it was such a rewarding feeling.
And of course, special mention goes to the Christmas party – which was just brilliant! A chance to celebrate with the team, let our hair down a bit, and enjoy the festive spirit together. It was a well-earned break after such a busy period!”
Q: What’s the best thing about working for Celsius Hire?
Marcus: “For me, it’s the fact that you’re treated as a person, not just a number. When you work hard, put in extra effort, or show ambition, it doesn’t go unnoticed. There’s a real appreciation for the work that we do, and that makes a massive difference. You feel valued, which is something you don’t always get in every workplace.
The support here is next level – whether it’s learning new skills, taking on more responsibility, or just knowing that the team has your back. By far, this is the most a company has helped me grow and develop, and I’m so very grateful for that! It’s not just about getting the job done; it’s about growing, improving, and being part of a team that genuinely cares about what we do.”
Q: Let’s chat skills and growth! What is something new you’ve learned or improved upon since joining Celsius Hire?
Marcus: “Becoming a Test & Repair Engineer! When I first joined Celsius last year, my knowledge was much more stock-focused, and I had a very basic understanding of the industry from a technical perspective. But since being here, I’ve been given so many opportunities to expand my skillset, get hands-on with the equipment, and really understand the ins and outs of what we do.
It’s been a real journey going from having limited experience to now feeling confident in my role. Every day, I’m picking up new things, improving my technical abilities, and becoming a better version of myself. The fact that Celsius Hire is willing to invest in their team and help us develop means a lot. It’s not just a job – it’s a career path with real opportunities to grow.”
Q: A state of the art test bay?! Tell us more!
Marcus: “The test bay is basically my second home! I spend a lot of time in there working on chillers, pumps, LT’s, AHUs – and the list goes on! It’s such a great space because it allows me to focus on my work while replicating real-world environments where the kit will be used.
We really put everything to the test, pushing it to its highest potential, so we can guarantee the best outcomes for our customers. It’s a great feeling knowing that every unit that goes out has been properly tested and fine-tuned.”
Q: What advice would you give to someone looking to join Celsius Hire?
Marcus: “You’ll learn something new every day, and there are always opportunities to grow. That’s something people say all the time, but here, it’s actually happening. If you’re someone who wants to develop, take on challenges, and be part of a supportive team, then this is definitely the place to be.
My advice to new starters? Be open to learning, ask questions, and get stuck in. The more effort you put in, the more you’ll get out of it. And most importantly – enjoy the journey! The sky is the limit here, and I’d encourage anyone considering joining Celsius Hire to go for it.”
